Flying with Emirates

A subsidiary of The Emirates Group (owned by the the Investment Corporation of Dubai), Emirates is an airline based in United Arab Emirates. Founded in 1995 and operating out of Dubai, Emirates is the largest airline in The Middle East and oversees no less than 3,300 flights per week to more than 148 cities in 78 countries across 6 continents. The airline is also the world’s biggest international carrier, the 7th largest airline in the world in terms of revenue, and the largest airline in the Middle East in terms of fleet size and passengers carried. Emirates are also the 4th largest airline in the world in terms of international passengers carried, and the 3rd largest in terms of scheduled passenger kilometres flown. Appointed a 4 star airline by aviation consultancy group Skytrax, Emirates was voted Airline of the Year in 2013 and has a fleet size of over 200 aircraft.

Online check-in

Emirates provides online check-in for most destinations within its network. Online check-in is available 24 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure time and closes 90 minutes before take-off.
The online check-in service is available to all passengers with an Emirates eTicket and valid travel documents including passports and any visas that may be necessary for travel.
Seat selection is available for all passengers checking in online and can be done either during the check-in process or after, provided the online check-in is still open.
Airport check-in is also possible for all passengers flying with Emirates. No extra fee is charged for using airport check-in.

Cabin luggage allowance

The maximum dimensions of cabin luggage on Emirates flights is 55cm x 38cm x 20cm. For customers boarding in India, the size of carry-on baggage must not exceed 115cm in total.
The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 7kg.
All passengers are entitled to 1 item of cabin luggage. Duty free purchases such as liquor, cigarettes and perfume are also permitted in reasonable quantities.
Passengers travelling with infants are also permitted one additional handbag for infant food provided the weight does not exceed 5kg. Other in-flight necessities such as collapsible strollers and carrycots can be carried as cabin luggage if cabin space is available, or else as checked baggage in the hold.
Extra/oversized hand luggage will be refused at the boarding gate or, where available, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee.

Checked baggage allowance

Emirates has a checked baggage size restriction of 158cm.
The maximum weight restriction for checked baggage from passengers traveling to or from North America and South America is 23kg per item. This can be increased to 32kg for a fee. Passengers on all other Emirates routes are entitled to 30kg per item, which can be increased to 50kg for a fee. However, no one item can weigh in excess of 32kg.
Passengers of all Emirates flights are entitled a total of 30kg of checked baggage, which can be raised to 50kg for a fee. This total can be split over 2 pieces of luggage. Passengers traveling to or from North America and South America have a total checked baggage allowance of 2 items weighing no more than 23kg per item. This can be increased to 32kg for a fee.
Emirates will accept sporting equipment as checked baggage but only if it within your standard baggage allowance. Sporting equipment that exceeds the weight and size limitations, such as surfboards and bicycles will be charged a fixed handling fee by the airline.
Passengers travelling with infants aged less than 2 years have an additional baggage allowance of up to 10kg.

big criticism here. pilot announces there is a blockage to pakistan airspace = hour delay leaving dubai. lot of people's connections too close to this and flight reassignment necessary and considerable delay. why cant you or the airlines involved start factoring this in as what the world is at the moment instead of this constant hassle for all involved?
