Best beaches on the Silver Coast

São Pedro de Moel beach, Marinha Grande

There is so much beauty in this wild and rugged beach, and experiencing a sunset among its perfect wilderness, is truly an ideal finishing touch to a day of beach fun. If you’re a fan of water sports, be sure to bring the necessary equipment with you on your sunshine holiday, as surfing is a big activity here. For travellers that prefer something quieter, Silver Coast beach has an ocean pool, a playground with volleyball nets, a tennis court and several lanes for cycling.

Nazare Beach, Nazare

Nazare Beach is a place where modernity and tradition come together in harmony. Here you will find all of the commodity and services you may need; from bars, to restaurants, shops, and more. The beach also carries a charm that’s unique, as travellers can often see fishermen mending nets along the beach. Surfers also frequent the beach, always prepared for the next big wave this ocean offers.

Berlenga Grande Beach, Peniche

Berlenga Grande is the largest island on the archipelago of Berlengas. Located at the height of the city of Peniche, the waters of Praia da Berlenga are beautiful enough to fit in any of the most luxe zip codes, clear blue and refreshing! The beach is particularly special, with Mediterranean and Atlantic influences, comprising this beach with a unique ecosystem. This area is truly a unique spot in the world, so much so that the Costa de la Plata has been declared a true natural oasis and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Torreira beach, Aveiro

In Torreira beach, nature and urbanism coexist in perfect harmony. Thanks to its enormous size, it is easy to find a spot for your towel on the beach. Should you not find a spot to lay down, however, there is ample ocean to enjoy a dip or to ride the waves. The swimmers will particularly enjoy the fresh waters of Ria de Aveiro. And of course, remember to leave room for a bite at one of the seafront restaurants to sample some of the local cuisine, which is the product of the area's great fishing tradition.

Tocha beach, Cantanhede

A few kilometres from Coimbra and Figueira da Foz, is Tocha beach, a wild beach that will delight those who like to relax while being surrounded by nature. The colourful boats and fishermen's houses that line the shore give this beach in the Silver Coast a picturesque touch and also reinforce the Portuguese fishing tradition. This and the convenience of nearby amenities, makes for a great holiday, but if that still does not convince travellers, please note that it is also one of the beaches in the region that has received the Blue Flag the most.

São Martinho do Porto beach, Alcobaça

A unique location, this beach is inserted into a beautiful natural shell-shaped bay, which protects it from strong winds and the waves of the Atlantic. This beach is also surrounded by a fort-like wall of rocks, making this area an even more quiet location. This 3-kilometer-long beach always seems to be filled with families who like to enjoy beach days and the comforts of shops and restaurants. For those visitors who wish to add a bit of adrenaline to their day, we suggest heading to Salgado beach for a bit of paragliding.
