Founded in 1963, Royal Jordanian is the flagship airline of Jordan and a member of both the Arab Air Carriers Organization and of the prestigious Oneworld Global Airline Alliance. The airline operates over 500 flights per week, with no less than 110 flights departing on a daily basis to over 60 destinations throughout The Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. Royal Jordanian’s fleet comprises of over 27 aircraft including the Boeing, Airbus and Embraer models. Online check-in for Royal Jordanian flights is available between 24 hours and 4 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure time.
Even after checking in online, passengers must report to the airport with all relevant travel documents no later than 3 hours before the scheduled flight departure.
When checking in online, passengers are able to select a preferred seat for their flight.
Airport check-in desks are available at all airports serviced by Royal Jordanian. Many airports also featured Royal Jordanian self-service check-in terminals that can be used by all passengers up to an 1 and a half before departure time. No extra fee is charged to passengers wishing to check in at the airport check-in desks or terminals.
Cabin luggage allowance
All cabin luggage carried onto a Royal Jordanian flight must not exceed the maximum dimensions of 23cm x 41cm x 51cm (or 115cm in total).
The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 7kg for all destinations.
1 piece of carry-on baggage is allowed per person. In addition to 1 item of standard cabin luggage, passengers may also carry 1 smaller item on-board, such as a handbag, laptop or a camera bag.
Passengers traveling with infants are allowed additional baby food and other necessities for the flight, to a maximum weight of 7kg. Baby strollers and carrycots may need to be checked in at the gate due to limited stowage in the aircraft cabin space.
Passengers carrying cabin luggage larger or heavier than the defined limitations will have their luggage placed in the hold and charged a checked baggage fee.
Checked baggage allowance
The sum of the three dimensions of 1 piece of checked baggage must not exceed 158cm for all Royal Jordanian flights. Infants aged up to 2 years are entitled to 1 item of checked luggage no larger than 115cm.
The standard weight allowance for check-in baggage is 30kg. For flights to and from Cairo and North America, the maximum weight limit for a single item of checked baggage is 23kg, though this can be increased to 32kg per item for a fee. Infants are entitled to 1 item of baggage weighing no more than 10kg, except for flights to North America, were the limit is 23kg.
Passengers are able to purchase 5 items of checked baggage allowance, with a total weight of 50kg maximum. The price of the checked baggage allowance varies according to the country of origin, destination and flight season.
Passengers on all flights excluding those to Cairo and North America are entitled to 1 item of checked baggage. Passengers flying to or from Cairo or North America are entitled to 2 items.
Sports equipment can be checked on all flights provided they meet the size and weight standards of normal checked baggage. Any items that do not meet these standards my still be checked but for an excess charge.
