With headquarters in Port Luis, Air Mauritius is the national flag carrier airline of Mauritius. Air Mauritius is the 4th largest carrier in Sub-Saharan Africa and has been the winner of the "Indian Ocean Leading Airline Prize” for 7 consecutive years. Online check-in for Air Mauritius flights opens 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure and closes approximately 3 hours before take-off.
Air Mauritius’ online check-in service is available for all flights departing from London Heathrow and Mauritius airports.
Online check-in is available for all passengers in possession of a valid e-ticket. It is also strongly recommended that passengers only check in once they are sure they have all the relevant travel documentation needed for their flight, such as visas and valid passports.
Airport check-in desks are available for passengers who don’t wish to check in online. No extra charge is incurred for passengers checking in at the airport.
Cabin luggage allowance
All cabin luggage carried onto an Air Mauritius flight must not exceed dimensions that in total exceed 115cm.
The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 7kg for all destinations.
1 piece of cabin luggage baggage is allowed per person. Passengers are also entitled to carry 1 small item such as a purse, laptop, or bag of duty-free goods in addition to their cabin luggage.
Passengers travelling with infants aged less than 2 years old may carry a stroller or carrycot on board the flight in addition to their cabin luggage provided there is enough space in the overhead bins. If no space is available these items will be checked into the cargo hold for free.
Checked baggage allowance
The maximum size allowance for checked baggage on all Air Mauritius flights is 158cm in total.
The maximum weight allowance of any 1 item of checked baggage for all European routes is 23kg. This limit can be increased to a maximum of 32kg per item for a fee. For some non-European routes the standard weight limit is 30kg.
Each passenger is entitled to 1 free item of checked baggage. Additional items of checked baggage can be purchased when making your flight reservations.
On international flights infants aged less than 2 years old are entitled to a free baggage allowance of 10kg. On the Mauritius to Rodrigues flights the weight limit is 5kg.
Any items of baggage that exceed the weight or size allowance will be subject to an excess charge which will be calculated according to the excess size and/or weight of the item.
Items of sports equipment are subject to different weight and size limitations. If an item of sports equipment weighs less than 23kg and is smaller than 200cm, it can be classed as checked baggage and be charged as such. An excess charge will be applied to any item greater than these limits.
