Founded in 1989, EVA Air is an international Taiwanese airline operating a flight network of over 70 destinations. As Taiwan’s 2nd largest airline, EVA Air has a fleet of over 60 aircraft, on which 8.9 million passengers flew in 2014 at a load rate of 78%. EVA Air offers passengers the opportunity to check-in online. This service opens 24 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure and closes 3 hours before take-off.
The online check-in service is offered to all passengers with the relevant travel documentation, which include passport and a valid EVA Air booking reference. Passengers travelling with an infant children aged less than 2 years are unable to check in online.
Passengers checking in online are able to select their preferred seat on-board the aircraft.
Airport check-in is also possible for all EVA Air passengers for no additional cost. Airport check-in is open 2 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure and closes 30 minutes before take-off.
Cabin luggage allowance
The total dimension of each item of cabin luggage must not be larger than 23cm x 36cm x 56cm. Any item larger than this will need to be checked into the hold for a fee, or not permitted onto the aircraft at all.
All items of cabin luggage are subject to a weight limit of 7kg.
Each passenger may carry 1 item of cabin luggage plus a supplementary item such as a handbag or laptop bag. An additional cabin luggage allowance can also be purchased.
1 infant's carrying basket or fully collapsible stroller, pushchair, car seat or carry harness is allowed to be brought on as cabin luggage. There is no limitation on weight or size for infant's pushchair or carrying basket provided they can be stored in the closed overhead locker.
Checked baggage allowance
The size and weight restrictions of checked baggage on EVA Air flights vary according to the flight’s destination. Passengers traveling to or from the US and Canada plus countries in South and Central America have a checked baggage size restriction of 158cm. No such restrictions apply for flights to and from Europe.
Each item of checked baggage must weigh less than 23kg for flights to or from the US and Canada plus countries in South and Central America. Checked baggage must weigh less than 30kg for flights to and from Europe. For a fee, this limit can be increased to 32kg for flights to or from the US and Canada plus countries in South and Central America. It can also be increased to 40kg for flights to and from Europe for a fee.
Each passenger is entitled to 2 pieces of checked baggage. Infants without a seat are also entitled to the same baggage allowance (including size and weight restrictions) as adult passengers.
Sports equipment may be checked into the aircraft’s cargo hold provided it meets the size and weight limitations of standard checked luggage.
Any baggage that exceeds the size or weight limitations, or is considered an extra item of checked luggage, shall only be allowed on the aircraft for a fee determined by the item’s excess.
