Glasgow fizzes with a vibrant cultural scene, world-class museums and historically diverse monuments. Formally known as Abbotsinch Airport, Glasgow Airport is one of the busiest airports in Europe and is considered Scotland's international gateway to the world. The airport operates flights to around 110 international destinations within Europe and beyond. Glasgow Airport operates regular flights from Glasgow to Cardiff, which can leave from either one of its two terminals. The older Terminal 1 deals with the majority of arrivals and departures, while the newer Terminal 2 is served by mainly no-frills airlines. Both terminals are connected by a covered walkway.

Travel to Glasgow airport

Flights to Cardiff from Glasgow leave from Glasgow Airport (formerly Abbotsinch Airport) which is six miles from Glasgow city centre. Drivers can access the airport via the M8 motorway and exit at Junction 28 (eastbound) or 29 (westbound). Parking on-site includes long stay, short stay and fast track parking. The Glasgow Airport Express 500 bus service runs from the city centre in about 15 minutes, while local buses such as services 77, 757 and 915 also connect the airport to the city. A train service links to Paisley Gilmour Street station, about one mile from the terminal (served by the 757 bus).

Arriving in Cardiff

Cardiff is a fascinating blend of centuries old history and forward-thinking culture. Travelling to the city centre

If you fly from Glasgow to Cardiff, you will arrive at Cardiff Airport, the national airport for Wales. There are numerous ways to proceed on your onward journey from the airport. The airport is situated close to the A4232, A4050, A4226 and the M4 motorways. The A4050 and A4226 connect with Cardiff city centre, the M4 with England. The T9 Cardiff Airport Express Bus Service operates frequent services between Cardiff Airport and the city centre. There is also a 905 shuttle bus service, which connects with trains that leave from Rhoose Cardiff International Airport train station.

Convenient for us we live in Swansea. Shame about the carriers.I have since learned that "flybe" are more commonly known as "flymaybe" due to their very poor reputation for overbooking and cancelling flights
