Flying with TAROM

With headquarters in Otopeni, S.C. Compania Na?ional? de Transporturi Aeriene Române TAROM S.A., otherwise known as TAROM, is the national flag carrier and largest airline of Romania. Majority owned by the Romanian government, the airline carried close to 2.3 million passengers in 2014 with an average load factor of 66%. TAROM operates 76 destinations in 25 countries across Europe, The Middle East, North Africa and the USA, as well as 6 domestic destinations within Romania. A member of the exclusive SkyTeam since 2010, TAROM has one of the youngest fleets in the aviation industry, which currently consists of 23 Airbus’, ATR and Boeing aircraft. TAROM was founded in 1954 and is currently the largest airline operating in Romania based on fleet size, international destinations, and international flights, plus is the 2nd largest in the country measured by passengers carried.

Online check-in

Online check-in for flights operated by TAROM is available from 30 hours up until 1 hour before the scheduled departure time.
The online check-in service is available for all TAROM operated flights from the following destinations: Brussels, Paris, Strasbourg, Amsterdam, Otopeni, Roma and Valencia.
Online check-in is available for all passengers in possession of a valid TAROM e-ticket, regardless of where the ticket was purchased.
When checking in online with a TAROM operated flight, passengers are able to select their preferred seat on board the aircraft.
Airport check-in desks and check-in kiosks are also available at most airport terminals operated by TAROM. No extra fee is charged to passengers who wish/need to check in at the airport.

Cabin luggage allowance

All TAROM passengers are entitled 1 item of cabin luggage no greater than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm for all Boeing and Airbus flights, and 35cm x 30 cm x 20cm for all ATR flights.
The maximum weight restriction on hand luggage for passengers of TAROM flights is 10kg.
Passengers are allowed 1 item of cabin luggage per ticket. In addition to the free cabin baggage allowance, passengers are also allowed a personal item such as laptop bag or handbag provided they are smaller than the standard cabin luggage.
Any item larger than the specified cabin luggage size/weight or luggage that exceeds the personal item allowance will be checked to your final destination. Checked baggage service charges may apply.

Checked baggage allowance

In general, checked luggage for domestic and international flights operated by TAROM must not exceed a total size of 158cm for all flights.
The weight limit for each individual item of checked luggage for domestic and international flights is 23kg, though for a fee, this can be increased to a maximum of 32kg for each individual item. Passengers on flights to Amman, Beirut, Dubai and Larnaca are entitled to 30kg per item of checked baggage.
Passengers are entitled to 1 item of checked baggage provided it meets the size and weight limitations of their destination. The checked baggage allowance in regards to number of items, weight and size can be increased for a fee determined to how much excess is required. The maximum number of bags allowed per passengers is 3 on ATR flights, and 10 on Airbus flights.
Infant’s aged less than 2 years travelling without a ticket (seated on their parents lap) are not entitled to checked baggage. Any additional checked baggage brought on board by an infant traveller will be subject to excess fees.

For a 1.30 hours flight the price is way too expensive. The airplane was very old and dirty the staff looked very unhappy. The food was a joke.

The experience was great until we arrived to the airport the return flight was delayed about 5 hours we have a 7 months old baby who had a very tough time as we were not expecting such a delay We had no food for her no extra cloths.... very bad experience with TAROM
