It is very simple to travel to Manchester Airport for your holidays as it is only 8 miles outside the city and can be reached using a variety of public transport:

  • Metrolink: You can catch the Metrolink tram from near Victoria train station in the centre of Manchester. It only takes about an hour to get to the airport and handily, they run every 12 minutes during the day at a cost of £4.40.
  • Train: Manchester Piccadilly is the main station in Manchester that has trains to take you to the airport. Served by both the TransPennine Express and Northern Rail, either company’s train will cost you £3.70 for the 20 minute journey. They run for 21 hours each day; there are no trains after quarter to one in the morning and before four o’clock but otherwise they have frequent departures.
  • Bus: Regional and local buses serve the airport frequently, but the easiest bus route is the Stagecoach bus number 43. Like the tram, it also takes about an hour depending on traffic and leaves from Manchester Piccadilly costing £3.50.
  • Taxi: You can book your taxi beforehand or pick one up from the many taxi ranks around the city particularly outside the railway stations. It only takes 20 minutes to drive to the airport from the centre of Manchester and costs about £35 for a saloon car and four passengers.

Useful information about Ferenc Liszt Airport

Named after Hungary’s most famous composer Franz Liszt, it is just less than 10 miles outside Budapest. The public transport connections are very easy to navigate:

  • Train: Ferihegy station is the closest to the airport but you do have to catch a bus to get there. This bus is number 900 during the night, and number 200E during the day. Once at Ferihegy, there are many trains you can take to Nyugati Station which is located in the city centre. It will only take half an hour and costs about 300ft which is roughly £1.
  • Bus: The 100E bus takes passengers into the city centre and you can catch it from the BKK bus stop between the two terminals. If you enter via the front door, this part of the bus will take you to Deák tér and it takes about 40 minutes for a very reasonable 900ft which is about £3.
  • Taxi: The yellow F?taxi cars will take you into the city for around 6500ft which is about £18 and should take about half an hour.
