Airports in Europe - Rating of car hire

The signing to thre car hire returns is ok, but there are spots where one is left in doubt where one should go. Two or hree more signs would improve this. After two or three attempts in daylight, I found my way to the returns, but I think it would have been very difficult in the dark.

No problem with luggage, found car hire companies just across the road.All fine.

I been traveling very often to and from Catania airport, unfortunately my impression about the Airport inn general its not the best one, neither for my colleagues and friends that often travel to Sicily for pleasure or business.Some of the main disadvantages the airport has are:1. There are not public internet accesses in the entire building! There is nowhere to have access really! Not even a paying point for my laptop! The only way to access is buying a pack of internet with the company 3 wireless internet that its on sale inside the departure area but the main problem is that you have to commit for a year contract plus paying the cost of the starting kit of 99 Euros! For someone who is not Italian resident is pretty much impossible and unnecessary to buy that service in that shop.2. Its ridiculous that a first world country and also an International Airport dont have that basic service available for passenger! Even in airports of undeveloped third world countries such South America or Africa provides internet access to the passenger or general costumers which is a basic service to have in modern days.3. The connectivity with other cities its not best one neither. In order to catch a bus you have to reach the precarious and poor bus stop outside the old terminal building. The bus stop is small, dont have a proper shelter to cover from the cold and rain (special winter time). Only a small roof provide shelter to the passenger that normally are more that the capacity of that bus stop can take, so basically the half of the public is waiting the bus without any comfort or shelter.4. There are not frequents bases between the airport and town; they should have at least one every other hour.5. Regarding the service of the personal inside the terminal building its another history: Its very poor and I am very disappointed for the lack of good mode demonstrated. They should have a better attitude as they are serving public that choose Catania airport for their trip. Its visible the arrogant mode within the personnel and the way the perform as being in catania Airport at least 20 time the last year I can give a proper opinion and feedback regarding that particular issue as its not a coincidence, its always the same!6. Regarding security; the last 28th of December I returned from Catania to London via Rome, and the person in the counter of Alitalia printed my boarding card in the other way round so it was unreadable! I kindly ask to re print the ticket for me and he refused! Dispite there was no body waiting to be serve! It was empty the checking area by them. He clearly didnt do his job properly and he knew it! But he didnt care! (That is another sort of arrogance). So I went to the boarding area and that create a problem for the personnel doing the boarding checking as they could cut the boarding properly. But surprises me that they didnt do they job again, instead of changing my boarding card as they should, they didnt get worry about that and they send me to board the plane with a blind ticket! The ticket was a blank peace of paper with not seat allocated or even my name! What kind of secures procedure is that? Then the problem was inside the plane, for the cabin crew that was strangle in finding out my name in the list to verify the number of my seat. That single situation create a delay in at least 10 minutes to the entire crew in order to complete the boarding, dismissing I believe in other important security issues they should look after in that critical phase of the boarding. So I am very upset and disappointed with that situation too.7. Regarding Taxis to Catania from the Airport, I never like to generalize with comments or say that everybody its the same but my experience of taking a cab to the center of Catania wasnt the best one. For a single journey from the airport to Catania I ended paying 58 Euros! As the taxi driver told me that the fare it will be between 20 and 30 euros. I dont know which route he took or how many times he press the bottom of increasing the numbers of passenger of bags but I pay 58 euros! That was a robbery an assault! I didnt want to argue with the taxi driver as was pointless, but thing is sure from now on I rather to take a bus or rent a car before to jump into a taxi in Catania as my own experience was bad and I believe the taxi driver wasnt honest to me, so I always advice to passenger flying to Catania DO NOT TAKE A TAXI! At least its absolutely necessary.I could still writing awful and unpleasant situation I had to had live in the Catania airport as the toilet conditions and maintenance for example, but I think is pointless to be honest as I dont think the administration is not really worry about feedbacks. I just hope some day another airport in Sicily could be open so everybody could have another chance to fly there! Instead Catania!.Unfortunately at the moment Catania its the only airport in that side of the Island, otherwise I will be flying to Palermo or Trapani airport definitely but unfortunately its too far to reach where I am going to from those airports. As conclusion I could say that I really dislike Catania Airport
