Headquartered in Dublin International Airport, Aer Lingus is Ireland’s second largest airline, after low cost competitor, Ryanair. The airline offers routes to over 80 destinations in Ireland, England, Continental Europe, the United States and Northern Africa. Apart from Dublin, it has hubs in Belfast City, Cork, London Gatwick, and Shannon. Aer Lingus was founded in 1936 by the Irish Government and its first flight took off in May of the same year, in a route from Dublin to Bristol. Today, the airline employs over 4,000 people with a fleet of 45 Airbus aircraft which in 2011 flew over 9.5 million passengers.
Aer Lingus was a member of the Oneworld alliance until 2007, and today, although it is no longer part of the alliance, has maintained code share agreements with OneWorld, SkyTeam, and StarAlliance members and interline agreements with Aer Arann, JetBlue Airways, and United Airlines.

Awful inflight experience. NO food at all except sweets. This is supposed to be a good quality national airline and it was appalling. Only consolation was the the cabin crew were lovely and terribly apologetic. Shame on Aer lingus. Cheapskates.Steve
The boarding gate notice went up 6 mins before last boarding; it was only because the flight was late that I didn't miss it! Suggestion: do as they do in Dublin - put the boarding gate up in plenty of time.Caz

RIDICULOUS AND VERY SHARP PRACTICE TO OVERCHARGE FOR A BOOKING. The Aer Lingus fare was in euros. Converting to Sterling and back again was unnecessary other than to confuse and skim off some currency gain in the process. A charge for the use of a Visa Debit card was also sharp practise.Happy

For a "budget" airline, Aer Lingus costs an arm and a leg, and its baggage restrictions are absurd. Airlines know that competition is virtually nonexistent; such poor service would never fly in private industry...Tom
It would be good if you could contact a human to deal with issues, every part of the process has been unsatisfactory and you owe me approximately £500 which I was promised on confirmation and it has not been received. Security at T2 Heathrow was an utter hell nightmare last time. I have avoided using T2 and Aer-lingus as a result, but had to this time. It was better, but the experience last time permanently killed anything happy about flying AerlingusA Service Charge unit
